Is your team aligned? This question will tell you.

One of my biggest mistakes has been to assume alignment.

People have all sorts of reasons why a particular direction isn’t right, and they can’t back it or be part of it. Some of these reasons will be very real. Others will feel real to them.

They’re all worth considering.

The upside is, you learn something that makes the vision more electric, the strategy sharper or that an entirely new course is needed. People join the journey.

The risk when you don’t is resistance wins and the work stalls or stops.

One thing I’ve learned? Ask this question early on:

“Who needs to support this initiative for it to succeed, and do they?”

(Full disclosure: I didn’t come up with this question and can’t remember where I came across it.)

I will say: If you’re looking to bring people together, and help them and the business move forward, it’s one that’s really worked for me.

Maybe it might help you too?

Love to hear the questions you ask to support alignment and what you’ve learned.
